Remember the immortal words of Emma Wheeler Wilcox (although often attributed to Abraham Lincoln):
“To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.”
Want to Volunteer? Email us at: [email protected] or call the office to inquire about our next meeting. We meet at the William Way LGBT Community Center, 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays, and our meetings are open to the public. Philly Pride is truly a grassroots organization, and because it organizes all the non-profits in our community, you get to experience just how diverse our community is. There is no President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Secretary. We are all simply “pride coordinators.” We recruit future coordinators from our volunteer base. All that is required is that you work one of our events from set-up to break-down, and that you attend the monthly meetings. There are two conferences per year. NERP, the Northeast Regional Pride coordinators (Washington D.C.to Maine), and Interpride, for all national pride groups. We try to attend all NERP conferences. Interpride is more problematic given its diverse locations. Our attendance at both conferences is compromised this year because we have withheld our dues because of the gender-identified executive board positions which exclude trans and otherly-identified individuals. In the past twenty years, we have had the pleasure to host the NERP conference in Philadelphia on two occasions. The picture above is our Senior Advisor (Betsy Ross) and our Executive Director (Ben Franklin) as they appeared in Boston while inviting attendees to visit Philadelphia which was going to host the forthcoming NERP conference. This year there will be a conference of state gay pride groups in State College, PA, Sunday, March 22. Check out the details under “events.” Coordinators: Denise Giannascoli Blum, John Brady, Tammi Coleman, Aaron Harris, Sal Loggia, Stephanie Love, Linda Martin, John McNeill, Fran Price (Executive Director), Jay Pugh. Jamie Roberts, Kevin Turner, Chuck Volz . Our committee members are: Jimmy “Archie” Archambalt, Danielle Archambalt, Shawn Bronisz, Albert Fernandez, John Fluehr, Bill Hunt, Jim O’Toole,
